Rhodea sp.

This specimen shows the characteristic horizontal ridges on the stem of Cordaites, together with a leaf attached obliquely on the left side. The small foliage on the right is likely a variety of rhodea.

Location: Nicholas County, West Virginia; Ramp Run Surface Mine #1, located about 12 miles north of Summersville, West Virginia. Turn west off route 19 north of Summersville on Spruce Run Road .
